This year’s guest of honour is New York, so there will be various activities, including writers, representing U.S. publishing activities. While the Geneva Salon represents the world’s second largest French-language book fair, it also attracts hundreds of publishers and other media, including e-publishing platforms, representing English, German, Italian and other language editors, distributors and book shops.
Expected to draw some 100,000 visitors over a five-day period, the Salon will host numerous informal and formal innovative workshops, roundtables, presentations and other events aimed at both young and old across a broad array of themes ranging from photography (at least eight events), BD (cartoons), children’s publishing and travel to new literature, current affairs, culture, education and science. This will be an exceptional opportunity for readers to meet with writers, photographers and other creators as well as to explore some of the new trends in publishing. For further information, please go to: Salon du Livre.
As part of Global Geneva’s support of the Salon, Global Geneva is running several articles linking to the Geneva-New York theme, such as Padraig Rooney’s piece on what attracted writers such as Ernest Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald to Switzerland. Plus Matthew Wake’s article on what’s happening in Switzerland with literary workshops, writer’s fellowships and other events.
